ISO 16750-2:2023 Standard Overview

ISO 16750-2:2023, as the international standard for electrical load testing of road vehicle electrical and electronic equipment, was officially released in July 2023, fully replacing the 2012 version. In response to the technological changes in new energy vehicles and intelligent connected vehicles, this standard adds 15 test items, focusing on strengthening electrical environment adaptability and complex working condition simulation capabilities.

Key Technical Changes

Type Change Point
Test Accuracy Improvement Added inductance test tolerance
Test Method Definition Detailed description of DC supply voltage test, overvoltage test at room temperature, slow decrease and increase of supply voltage test, reversed voltage test, ground reference and supply offset test, load dump generator verification method
New Tests Transient overvoltage test, voltage micro interruption test
Superimposed AC Voltage Test Frequency range extended to 200kHz, covering scenarios where generators or DC/DC converters produce high-frequency ripple; using closed-loop injection mode, requiring voltage and current waveform monitoring within 10cm of DUT to ensure test authenticity
Test Changes Single wire interruption test in open circuit test split into two test cases, short circuit protection test changed to short circuit/overload protection test

Core Test Items

The standard specifies 11 electrical performance tests, among which the superimposed AC voltage test is a key verification item for new energy vehicle electronic equipment.

The superimposed AC voltage test uses logarithmic step scanning (2% step, ≥2s per point) and is divided into two frequency bands, f1: 10Hz~30kHz (Ipp≤15A), f2: 30kHz~200kHz (Ipp≤10A), with Upp limits up to 6V (12V system)/10V (24V system).

  • Reference Test: Under condition 3.3, the power supply applies AC ripple voltage UR based on U0, UR gradually increases until the maximum voltage ripple Upp or maximum current limit Ipp is reached at the DUT;
  • Injection Test: Under condition 3.2, injection is performed according to the UR of each frequency point determined in the reference test.
